Ray Santamaria is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been working in the field of mental health and substance abuse since 2002. He received his bachelor’s degree in Communications & Media Management from Loyola Marymount University. He spent 15 years as a professional in the music industry before receiving his master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles.
He has extensive experience in residential and intensive outpatient treatment settings, having served as a Primary Therapist, Treatment Coordinator, and Clinical Director. Additionally, Ray currently supports mental wellness initiatives for underserved communities by participating on the board of a South Los Angeles mental health clinic.
As an avid training participant, Ray has always been dedicated to advancing his craft, especially in the study of trauma treatment. Some of his experience includes advanced training with Pia Mellody in her Post Induction Therapy model (PIT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Somatic Experiencing® (SE). He is also an advocate for mindfulness and meditation, with a focus on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and an interest in Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness.
Ray established One to One Treatment in October 2009 and is proud to have been part of the shifting tide away from the traditional, “one-size-fits-all” treatment models toward truly individualized and customized care. He believes that each client has a unique set of strengths, challenges, and needs, and that many clients require the safe, attuned space of the one-to-one relationship to most effectively address them.
